falling over randomly since 1979
I’m Laurie. I’m 30-ish years old. I live in Surrey, BC Canada with my husband (Paul) and our two dogs (Maggie and Bender). Paul and I have been together since 2001. We were married in a private ceremony on the Hawaiian island of Moloka’i on November 30, 2007.
I’m the practice manager of a veterinary clinic. I have a special interest in communication and conflict resolution training for staff. I’m working on honing a training programme for veterinary clinic staff. My goal is to one day be an independent management consultant for veterinary clinics. Or win the lottery and retire to a small tropical island…but I was going to save that for my retirement plan.
I am a voracious reader and enjoy a range of fiction. I have a special love of dystopian/apocalyptic/post-apocalypse/end-of-the-world/science fiction novels. Secretly I would like to be an author, but I never let anyone read anything that I write so it makes it a difficult dream to pursue.
I dabble in playing video games, mostly on my DS or PSP. I enjoy real-time strategy, tactics, JRPGs and SRPGs. We have a multitude of consoles (GameCube, Wii, PS2 and 360) that I hardly use. Although now that I can buy NES and SuperNES games for the Wii this may change. For me, the height of gaming was the SuperNES era.
In 2009 I finally took lessons to learn how to ride a motorcycle, a dream I’ve had since I was about 10 years old (thanks to a rider of a Honda Hurricane who returned the frantic waves from my brother and I at a red light on Scott Road with a cool wave and a nod before zooming off at the green light). I currently ride a 2009 black Kawasaki Ninja 250R.
